After a series of false dawns, 2015/16 proved to be a real breakthrough season for talented midfield man Lewis Hawkins.
The all-action star has flirted with First Team action in the past but it was last season when he finally secured a prolonged run of games in the team.
He scored his first two goals in spectacular fashion as Pools won in style at Barnet in March 2016 and his first long-range strike that afternoon was crowned Goal of the Season by supporters at the End of Season Awards.
After catching the eye playing for local non-league side Horden Colliery Welfare, Hawkins joined Pools at the age of 17 in 2010 and went on to make his senior debut two years later.
Positive on the ball and committed in the tackle, Hawkins was then in and out of the side over the next couple of seasons and spent time on loan with Spennymoor Town in a bid to get regular football.
The Teesside-born star was rewarded for his fine form last term when he put pen to paper on a brand new contract in April 2016.
