Irishman Jake Carroll became Pools’ fifth signing of the 2015 summer when he flew in from Dublin to agree terms on a switch to Victoria Park.
The left-back had been released by Huddersfield Town at the end of a two-year spell with The Terriers and Pools moved quickly to acquire his signature.
Carroll first made his name in his native Ireland for St Patrick’s Athletic, playing in the Europa League in 2012 before earning his Huddersfield move the following April.
He gained senior experience with loan spells at Bury and north of the border with SPL outfit Partick Thistle before returning to make a handful of appearances for Town prior to his release.
After a strong pre-season, Carroll went on to be a virtual ever-present for Pools during his first season, particularly coming to the fore in the second half of the campaign when he really found his form.
Blessed with a sweet left foot and boundless energy, Carroll scored his first goal for the Club in a 3-1 win over Dagenham & Redbridge in March 2016 and weighed in with countless other assists from open play and set-pieces.
