Pools Youth Team continued their great run of form by winning 3-0 at Notts County on Saturday to further strengthen their position in the top half of the Youth Alliance League.
Goals from Lee Mason, Daniel Johnson and Joshua Rowbotham were enough to see off County and extend Pools' unbeaten run to nine games.
"It was a longer than usual journey for the lads and an early kick-off but we put in a very professional and solid performance," Micky Barron told us.
"We score two good goals, had plenty of other chances and restricted Notts County to very few openings so overall I was very pleased with the display.
"The confidence of the lads just keeps on growing and hopefully we can keep this little run going and see that reflected in our league position."
Pools started the game well with Lee Mason twice going close in the early stages, before opening the scoring on 26 minutes when he volleyed low in to the net after a long throw.
Daniel Johnson almost doubled the lead before half time but first saw a free-kick saved and then was also denied by the keeper after a long-range shot.
A strong start to the second half put County further on to the back foot, with Mason and Chay Liddle both unlucky not to find the net in the opening minutes.
Midway through the second period, the next goal arrived when Rowbotham got on the end of a Johnson cross after a quickly-taken corner.
And Johnson got his own name on the scoresheet after being put through by Liddle and producing a tidy finish past the helpless County keeper.
Young keeper Liam Mooney, who impressed on his debut, made a close range save to keep the home side at bay late on and secure the comfortable win.
