Pools Youth Team suffered a disappointing end to the season as their winning run came to a halt against Lincoln City on Saturday.

Having beaten Doncaster Rovers and Bradford City in their previous two outings, Micky Barron's youngsters made the trip to Lincoln in good heart.

However, a goal in either half ensured that the Imps ran out winners, though Barron felt his team could have taken something from the game.

"We didn't look as sharp as we have done in recent games for some reason," he commented.

"However, we still created some decent chances and with a bit more tempo I am sure we could have taken at least one of them which would have changed the game.

"It's not the way we wanted to end the season but we'll re-group and go again at the start of next term," he added.

Pools had opportunities to open the scoring in the first half, mainly through Callum Martin and Lee Mason, but it was Lincoln who stole in front against the run of play.

And while Dylan Purvis, Billy Blackford and Daniel Johnson all had the chance to equalise after the break, the hosts made the game safe with a second in injury time.
