Youth Team Lose Out To Mansfield

Posted on: Mon 17 Nov 2008

Pools Youth Team lost out 2-0 at home to Mansfield Town on Saturday morning.

Micky Barron's team started the game, which was played at Billingham Town, brightly and controlled the opening exchanges.

The first chance of the game arrived after just five minutes when Gary McRoberts fired in on goal only to be denied by the keeper.

Anthony Wakefield tried his luck from twenty yards which was saved by the visiting stopper while Marc Ellison suffered the same fate with his effort from a corner kick.

Despite creating several chances, Pools failed to break the deadlock in the first half and the teams went in at half time 0-0.

Barron's side were kicking into the wind second half and failed to really get the ball down and pass it as well as in the first period.

While Mansfield capitalised on their chances and found the back of the net on two occasions, Pools failed to hit home despite chances for Tom Marron and Lee Mason.

Despite a good effort from Barron's side, a more experienced Mansfield side took all three points from this clash.
