Youth Team Kick Off With 2-2 Draw
Pools Youth Team kicked off their new Youth Alliance league campaign on Saturday with a 2-2 draw against Scunthorpe United.
Micky Barron's side started the game slowly and allowed the hosts to grab the lead within the opening two minutes.
But Pools reacted well and came back into the game and dominated the opening half after the first fifteen minutes.
Barron's side created a couple of good scoring opportunities but just failed to hit the target and went into the second period 1-0 down.
Pools came out brightly after the break and drew level after just three minutes of the re-start.
Lee Mason ran through into the box and the ball fell to Marc Ellison who hit home from twelve yards.
Barron's side had more chances with Darryl Scaife going close onto to lose out to the keeper before Gary McRoberts fired home with an angled twenty-yard shot.
Pools continued to play well for the remainder of the second period but conceded from a set piece in the last ten minutes.
Overall, it was a bright start for Micky Barron's side who put in a strong performance to take a point from Scunthorpe United.
