Chris Turner thanked the fans for the part they played as Pools claimed a point from the visit to The Alexandra Stadium.

The travelling army of almost 400 created plenty of noise to help Turner's men continue their battle to stay out of the drop zone.

"I think the first thing to say today is that the support we got from our travelling fans was absolutely magnificent," Turner told Pools World after the game.

"They cheered us as we came out, they cheered the lads after the warm-up and they never stopped with their vocal backing throughout the whole game.

"Hopefully they feel that the players rewarded them for that with a really hard working performance and a well-earned point.

"We knew it would be tense and at times you could tell that there was anxiety out there but our defence held firm and Jan Budtz was outstanding.

"Sam Collins and Michael Nelson won everything at the back, with Sam putting his body on the line in the last minute when it looked like Crewe might snatch a goal."
