Pools Reserves consolidated their position at the top of the Totesport.com League when they won 2-0 at Grimsby Town.
Ritchie Jones scored the opener for Pools before young defender Tom Marron snatched a second to make the game safe.
It didn't take long for Colin West's men to seize the initiative and they were in front with their first attack when Jones burst forward down the left and forced the ball past keeper Rob Peet from a tight angle.
While Town failed to make the most of their possession during the first half, Pools could have doubled their lead just before the break but Michael Mackay nodded Ritchie Jones' cross just over the bar.
The hosts came back in to it during the early stages of the second half with striker Adam Proudlock going close to a leveller but saw a shot blocked by Hartley before trialist keeper Andy Rafferty came to Pools rescue with a good save in the follow-up.
Just before the hour mark, Pools made the Mariners pay for their missed opportunity when Jones' long free-kick picked out Marron at the far post and the defender nodded home from a tight angle.
And Mackay should have wrapped things up a minute later but was denied by Peet when put clean through, while Larkin struck a half-volley wide from the edge of the box.
Town attempted to up the tempo as time elapsed but Rafferty did well to block from substitute Tom Corner, before Drew Rhodes saw an effort go wide of the target.
