Pools Reserves were held to a 1-1 draw in this afternoon's Totesport.com League fixture at Sincil Bank.
A minute's silence was held prior to kick-off in the game in memory of former Imps boss Keith Alexander who sadly passed away on Tuesday evening.
James Brown gave Pools a solid start to the game when he was on target after just three minutes, poking the ball home from close range after a well-delivered corner.
The Pools star could have doubled his tally just after the quarter hour mark when he curled an effort just wide from the edge of the area as Colin West's men got in to their stride.
However, City rallied well and were back on level terms on the half hour when young midfielder Jamie Reid placed a well-struck shot past Mark Cook from the edge of the box.
Billy Greulich had the opportunity to restore Pools' lead just before the break but he just failed to take advantage of a mix-up in the City defence and fired an effort wide from a tight angle.
Brown was denied by City keeper Paul Musselwhite soon after the restart, before Sam Clucas spurned a chance to put the home side in front for the first time.
Michael Mackay replaced Brown midway through the second half and he almost nipped in to score a winner but Musselwhite did well to smother the ball at his feet.
And during injury time, substitute Callum Martin almost snatched the points for Pools when he got on the end of a cross but he put his effort wide and they had to settle for a point.
