James Brown scored two goals with his first two touches after being brought on as a second-half sub to help Pools to a 6-1 win over Scunthorpe United.
Pools made the most of being a man up for much of the game with a solid second half display which saw Colin West's men ease to victory.
Brown's goals were added to a brace from Armann Bjornsson and a Michael Mackay effort, while Colin Larkin sealed the win with a late strike.
After a quiet start to the game here at The Vic in which neither side took hold, the action started shortly after the twenty minute mark.
And it was the visitors who took the lead when a ball fed through into the box found Danny North, who turned well to fire past an outstretched Mark Cook and into the back of the net.
While the hosts had the advantage in terms of goals, Pools were soon to have a numerical advantage as Scunthorpe had a man sent off shortly after.
Ben May reacted badly to an aerial challenge with Leon McSweeney, turning to push the Pools' man with his head. The referee was close by and showed May a straight red for his actions.
Colin West's men had a few half chances - Alan Power firing wide from the edge of the area and Armann Bjornsson heading over from a Fredriksen cross - but took some time to make the most of their extra man.
In the closing minutes of the opening half, a good run down the left from Fredriksen saw the winger whip a good delivery into the box where Bjornsson picked it up to take a touch and then fire past Sam Slocombe in the visiting goal.
While Scunthorpe started the second half brightest, it didn't take long for Pools to up the pressure and set off on a forty-five minutes filled with goals.
Leon McSweeney sent a precise ball into the box for Mackay who moved into space before finishing well past Slocombe to give Pools the edge.
It was 3-1 within ten minutes of the re-start courtesy of a thumping goal from Bjornsson; a determined run forward by Julian Cherel set up the big striker and he made no mistake as he lashed home into the top of the net.
James Brown joined the action on the 65th minute and within two and a half minutes of his introduction, he hit the net twice.
His first touch of the game saw him pick up possession inside the box from Alan Power and strike confidently past the Scunthorpe stopper.
While his first touch may well have been impressive, Brown's second was even better; the tricky forward sent a powerful strike into the top right corner from an angle.
There were further chances for Pools as Power tried his luck on two occasions from the edge of the area and McSweeney headed over from close range.
But the scoring was rounded up in the final minute of the game as Power fed a ball into the box for Colin Larkin and he made no mistake as he fired home to make it 6-1.
