Tymon Hat-Trick Sends Reserves To Top
Pools Reserves went three points clear at the top of the Pontins Holidays League after a resounding 4-0 win over Barnsley at Oakwell.
And with Sheffield Wednesday's surprise defeat at home to Grimsby Town it saw Pools take the lead at the top, though the Owls do still have a game in hand.
A fast start to the game saw Ian Butterworth's men quickly gain a stranglehold on proceedings and race in to two-goal lead.
With just fifteen minutes on the clock, Matty Tymon had scored twice to put Pools in the ascendancy with two headed finishes from close range.
Pools were threatening to run riot but missed numerous chances to extend their lead before the break but could not find the ruthless edge required.
However, Tymon completed his hat-trick with a nice strike from just inside the box before Michael Mackay wrapped up an easy victory when he took the ball round the goalkeeper to end the scoring.
One dark spot on the game for Pools was in injury to Jonny Rowell who was stretchered off just before half time and needed stitches in an injury just below his knee.
