Reserves Hit Back For Iron Victory
Two goals from Michael Rae and one from Matty Tymon helped Pools Reserves to come from behind and claim victory at Scunthorpe United.
The hosts took the lead early on in the first half but Pools were rarely troubled after that as they hit back to secure all three points in the Pontins Holidays League clash.
Rae grabbed the equaliser close to the half-hour mark when he drove in to the box and struck an angled drive across goal and in to the roof of the net.
Scunthorpe were playing a risky offside game in defence but Pools got the better of it just before the break, the flag staying down allowing Rae to run through and score his second.
Matty Tymon wrapped things up with around a quarter of an hour left when he pounced to fire home after the keeper couldn't hold Rae's driven shot.
"It was a good result in a very competitive game," Ian Butterworth commented.
"Despite going behind the lads showed good character and it was an impressive performance given the youngsters we had in the team," he added.
The win came at some expense however; Tom Haigh was forced off at half time with a tight hamstring while Joe Tait was also forced off during the second half.
As well as that, Rae had to play on with a slightly tight hamstring late on, while Jonny Rowell had to come off after feeling unwell.
