Sweeney Goes Under The Spotlight
We turned the spotlight on Antony Sweeney this week by asking him some of the questions you sent in for him.
Here's what he had to say for himself...
After securing a new deal at HUFC, how do you think the future looks for Hartlepool?
Timmy Butler, 16.
As long as we can keep the players we have a the club right now and bring in a few additions I think the future looks very bright and we can go from strength to strength. Our minimum aim now has to be to improve on this season and try and get back in around the play-offs if not higher than that.
If you could sign one player for Hartlepool who would it be?
Becca
It would probably have to be Cristiano Ronaldo, for obvious reasons. He is a player who has everything and he's probably the best in the world - plus he doesn't play in my position which is a bonus!
And who would you love to play along side?
Becca
I'd like to play alongside Steven Gerrard because someone of his ability can only make you look better! He's got everything in his game and he plays in my position so you have to look to someone like that to try and improve as he's one of the top players in the world.
I prefer to see you play wide on the right rather than in the middle; do you have a preference?
Big Kev Mac
No, not really. Whatever position you play in there are different challenges and I have enjoyed playing on the right this season. It can give you more freedom when you're there and less defensive responsibilities but if you're playing through the middle you feel more at the heart of things.
You recently signed a new contract at The Vic. Why did it take this long to decide if you wanted to stay?
Emma Pearson
These things are never easy and it takes time to sort everything out. It wasn't that big of a rush really and I always thought I would stay at the Club. You have to take your time over these things because it's a career decision and not something you can take lightly.
When you are stood in the huddle before kick off, what is it you and the rest of the guys are saying to each other?
Cortney Swales
I'm usually saying nothing! It's the captain who is usually the one who is speaking and he's just trying to make sure everything is right for the game and we're all ready for it. Sometimes it's all stuttering thought as they're a bag of nerves!
Will you give me your autograph if I'm stood at the half way line?!
Pauline Mann
If you going to be stood on the halfway line it would be hard not to!! It's difficult because when you're warming up before the game you have to make sure you're fully ready and there are a lot of people shouting over for autographs. But if there's time I'll certainly try and come across and sign an autograph for you.
