The experienced defender signed a deal with the Club in September 2011 after training with the squad for several weeks. Initially, he was simply maintaining his fitness but his approach to training, his ability and attitude with the younger players persuaded Mick Wadsworth that he would be a good addition.
He enjoyed a flawless debut at centre-back in the 2-0 win over Exeter City but can operate comfortably anywhere in defence. Having started his career with Liverpool, Wright moved on to Sunderland in £3million deal in August 2002. After playing around 100 games for the Black Cats he was allowed to leave the club in 2008 and signed for Championship outfit Coventry City.
In 2010/11 Wright spent time on loan with League One side Brentford before being released by the Sky Blues in the summer.
