A talented midfeidler, Jones joined Pools in the summer of 2008 after a football education undertaken at Manchester United.
He was released from Old Trafford after making five appearances for the Club in the FA Cup and Carling Cup, though he did gain further match experience thanks to loan spells at Colchester, Barnsley and Yeovil.
A skilful operator who can be employed in the centre of midfield or on the right wing, Jones has proved already that he is a high energy player with an eye for a pass.
He scored spectacularly on his debut during Pools' impressive 4-2 win over Colchester on the opening day of the 2008/2009 season.
