Antony Sweeney was in pragmatic mood after Pools' latest 2-1 defeat at Norwich City on Saturday.
The midfielder played his part in another strong team display but once again, Pools left Carrow Road with nothing,
"The game is all about winning and we've not been doing that," Sweeney told hartlepoolunited.co.uk.
"We are playing well in games - we've said in the dressing room that we would take three poor performances if that got us seven points.
"We could well have had seven points from the last three games where we've played well but come away with nothing."
While it would be easy for the players to let recent results weigh heavily on the pitch, Sweeney insists they are working hard to push on,
"As a team we have to try and take the positives - I know it is hard to keep saying that every week but hopefully we will start to take our chances and pick up points.
"The dressing room was a difficult place to be after the MK Dons game - there was nothing positive for us to take out of that game. It was abysmal and we let the fans and the Club down.
"Since then we have put in some quite good performances where we could take positives but we have still come away with the same as we did after MK Dons - no points.
"We have to pick ourselves up and keep plugging away and hopefully the tide will turn for us.
"As a group of players on the training pitch, we have to iron out the things we are doing wrong and on Saturday, that was to concede a goal thirty seconds after scoring.
"We need to iron out these things and then hopefully the quality we have in the squad will shine through and we'll start to pick up the points."
