Sam Collins is the next player to feature in our What's In A Name column as we find out more about the defender, both on and off the pitch.
This article was first published in the Club's popular Matchday Programme 'Never Say Die'.
S is for Superstitions
"I always put my right boot on before my left and my right shin pad before my left. When I go out onto the pitch, I always put my left foot down first. I've got a fair few more than that but I think we'd run out of space if I listed them all!"
A is for Ambitions
"I'd like to in the future become a manager one day - that is my long-term aim. Obviously at the moment with my age, I am just hoping to keep playing as long as I possibly can."
M is for Manchester United
"I am a fan, yes. I try to see them quite a lot; I usually get there about four or five times a season. When I am done playing, hopefully I will get a Season Ticket there and take my lad. My family are from Stretford and when I was a little kid, I used to go a lot with my dad and granddad."
C is for Childhood Dreams
"For me, it was always going to be either football, cricket or rugby league because I was playing all three of them really between the ages of 13 and 15. Then I had to make the decision over which way to go and obviously I decided on football and I am glad I did - it was an easy decision really."
O is for On The Road
"We're doing plenty of travelling this year but I keep myself busy on the Team Coach. I own a couple of shops as well as doing this so I tend to spend half of the time online doing things for that, making sure everything's OK. I sometimes watch a bit of 24 or something like that or listen to the lads talking rubbish - that usually passes the time!"
L is for Long Throw In
"I remember when I was eight or nine and I was playing for a team that my uncle ran and he asked me to take a throw in and it was then I realised I could throw it quite far and it's just gone from there really."
L is for Life After Football
"Like I said, I am looking at going into management in the future. I am doing my coaching badges at the moment and somewhere down the line I would like to be a manager."
I is for Injuries
"Players get injuries that affect their careers and yes you do think about it, but I don't think you can really afford to dwell on that. I have had my fair share of injuries, especially the one when I was at Hull City which stopped me in my tracks really. But there is nothing you can do, there is no point in worrying about it and I am fine now and that's the main thing."
N is for Nicknames
"I've never really had a nickname that I can remember. I think because my name is so short there's never been any shortened versions or nicknames - it's always been just boring old Sam!"
S is for Sent Off v Pools (for Port Vale in 2004)
"I remember Paul Robinson went past me and I pulled him down - it was only after about fifteen minutes of the game. It had taken me about three hours to get to Port Vale that day because of the snow and then I only lasted 15 minutes of the game - I might as well have said I'd been stuck in the snow. The weather was unbelievable that day but I didn't get to see too much of the match as I was in the dressing room fuming with myself for being sent off!"
