Nardiello A Frustrated Spectator For Pools
Suspended striker Daniel Nardiello cut a frustrated figure at The Vic on Saturday.
The on-loan striker came along to support his new teammates in the game with Walsall but was disappointed to miss out on making his home debut.
As well as his frustration at not playing, Nardiello admits to feeling a sense of injustice at the decision to show him a red card in the game at Huddersfield Town last Tuesday,
"It was a 50/50 challenge. I've seen the replay myself and I just nicked the ball ahead of the keeper - it should have been a corner if anything.
"It's just a shame I have to miss three games now because of it."
Although Town keeper Alex Smithies reacted strongly to the challenge by Nardiello, the striker reveals he did have some support from Lee Clark,
"I think he's made a bit of a meal of it and their players didn't help - even their Manager said to me after the game that he didn't think I should have been sent off.
"If I hadn't gone for the ball, people would be asking questions about me and if it happens again, I'd still go for the ball. Hopefully next time I'll be a bit quicker and get the goal."
The 26-year-old insists that when he does get back, he is in good shape and is raring to get back involved in the action for Pools,
"I felt sharp, I felt good considering I had been out for so long - I know that I have done better though and hopefully I can get back in the team and show people what I can do.
"It's definitely been a nightmare season as far as injuries have gone for me and just when I'd finally got a chance to go out and enjoy it this happens.
"Luckily we have a midweek game next week so I'll be back quicker - I wish we'd had one this week too."
