My Kind Of Football
Jamie McCunnie has quickly settled into life at Pools after moving to the Club in the summer.
The former Dunfermline player has impressed in his performances both at right back and centre midfield and, although more used to playing in the middle of the pitch, he admits he is also comfortable in defence,
"Any time I have played in midfield I have been praised for it and done well.
"It is where I played last season but when I was given the chance to come here, I came for a new challenge and something different."
One of the reasons McCunnie has settled in so quickly, he reveals, is the fact that Pools play his preferred kind of game,
"I just like to get the ball down and pass it about.
"I knew Hartlepool was a decent Club but when you're moving clubs you don't always know what you are getting yourself into until you get there and meet the lads.
"But I have been really lucky because all the boys want to play the same as I do by getting the ball down.
"That suits me because I'm not the biggest or strongest of players. That's what surprised me, how confident and composed we are as a team on the ball."
Despite being one of the smaller players, McCunnie still takes no prisoners on the pitch with his determined approach to games,
"I like getting stuck in, maybe that's a bit of the Scottish in me," he jokes.
"I like the whole hearted tackles but that is something which is kind of getting taken away from the game.
"I don't want to do anything nasty but I enjoy getting stuck in."
