Barron Pleased With Reserves Response

Posted on: Wed 08 Sep 2010

Micky Barron admitted he was pleased with the way the Reserves performed during their 2-0 win over Scunthorpe United at Billingham Town.

The Coach had been critical of the team after their 2-0 defeat to Gateshead seven days ago but he felt they showed good character to collect three points against The Iron.

"It's difficult because you always want them to play better," he commented.

"But today we got the goals at the time when we were on top of the game in the last twenty minutes of the first half.

"After that I felt we dug in and did what we needed to do so I'm pleased with the way they reacted to last week's defeat."

Neil Austin played sixty minutes on his comeback from an ankle injury and Barron revealed he could be in contention for Saturday's game against Exeter City.

"You know what to expect from Neil, he's a whole-hearted player who gives his all in whatever game he plays and he certainly did that today.

"We know he's an important player in the squad for us so it was great to see him come back and get those minutes under his belt and put himself back in the frame."
