Our Patience Paid Off Says Wadsworth

Posted on: Fri 03 Sep 2010

Mick Wadsworth was delighted with the way his side went about their business to secure a place in Round Two of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy with a win over Northampton Town.

Wadsworth was expected to make changes to his side following Saturday's 5-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday but he felt that the 4-0 win over the Cobblers was justification for leaving things as they were.

"I spoke with Gary Walsh, Micky Barron and Ritchie Humphreys and asked what they would want to happen next as players after Saturday's game," he explained to Pools Player.

"We all felt we'd want to play again as soon as possible and I think that performance and result tonight was justification of that.

"Chances came and went and you just worry that you may fritter it away almost but the players remained patient and played some really good football tonight.

"With all respect, we should beat Northampton of course we should - but cup games are not always like that so I was pleased tonight."
