Pools Reserves started the season with a comfortable 2-0 win over Lincoln City.
Wadsworth's wide took the lead early in the game thanks to a clinical finish from Denis Behan.
The Irish striker beat the offside trap and casually tucked the ball round the keeper to give Mick Wadsworth's side the lead.
Leon McSweeney could have doubled the lead but he saw his fine shot from the edge of the box turned round the post, while at the other end Delroy Facey spurned two good chances to bring the visitors level.
Pools were forced into a change to their line-up before kick off when Fabian Yantorno injured his back in the warm-up and Michael Mackay took his place. Jordan Richards was called up to the subs bench.
It was Lincoln City who created the best of the early second half chances when both Nathan Adams and sub Sam Turner tried their luck on goal but without success.
At the other end, Billy Greulich almost scored for Pools when he headed Colin Larkin's freekick back across goal but a City defender got back to clear off the line.
However, it was only a brief respite for the visitors as from another Larkin freekick, Armann Bjornsson rammed home at the back post.
Andy Rafferty was called into action when Adams again fired on goal but the Pools keeper produced a great save to secure the three points.
A comfortable start to the season for Pools Reserves who always looked to have another gear in them if required.
