Chris Turner has admitted his delight after finally being able to add Evan Horwood to his squad for the forthcoming campaign.

The left-back has been training with Pools for three weeks and has played in two friendly games in Holland followed by a further two back in England.

But during that time there was speculation that other clubs were interested in his services so Turner is pleased to have been able to clinch a deal for the 24-year-old.

"Mick and I know Evan well from having worked with him in the past," Turner explained.

"He's still relatively young but has good experience having played quite a number of games in the Football League already.

"He has shown a great appetite for the game during his trial spell with us and has added some real attacking presence down the left-hand side.

"His deliveries from set-pieces have been excellent and we really could have scored more goals during pre season on the back of that.

"We're delighted that he's agreed to sign for the Club and I feel he deserved this chance to prove himself with his hometown team."
