Pools To Set New Away Travel Record

Posted on: Fri 30 Jul 2010

Pools are set to eclipse the mileage record they set last term by completing their League One schedule of away games during 2010/2011.

Last season the Club took the record for the number of miles travelled during the regular season - completing a whopping 10,556 in round trips ground to ground.

But this term the bar has been raised again with the team and supporters set for journeys totalling a fuel-guzzling 10,614 miles.

October is the month in which the travelling hits its peak with Plymouth, Leyton Orient and Dagenham all on the fixture list - that's 1822 miles in car talk.

And the season finishes with journeys galore too, with trips to Swindon, Southampton and Charlton all coming in April and May.

"Preparations have to be right when you're doing a lot of travelling," Chris Turner commented.

"Clearly we've struggled away from home in recent seasons and that is something we want to try and put right this term if possible."
