Behan Nets In Garforth Town Defeat

Posted on: Tue 27 Jul 2010

Pools fell to a 2-1 defeat in their latest pre season friendly at Garforth Town tonight.

Goals from the hosts in either half did the damage and despite a Denis Behan penalty giving Pools hope, they could not find another route to goal.

Paul Johnson almost opened the scoring for Pools inside the first five minutes but he crashed a header against the bar as he came up against the team he spent time on loan with last term.

Chimbunka, who looked a threat in attack for the home side, combined will with fellow attacker Paul Walker to cause problems for the Pools defence.

And it was that attacking pair who combined when Walker headed down for Chimbunka to drive Garforth in front.

Town could have made it 2-0 early in the second half when Walker linked again with his strike partner but this time Chimbunka's effort flicked off the bar on its way over.

Just on the hour mark, it was 2-0 though when Oliver Hotchkiss drove into the top corner after the ball had fallen loose inside the area.

Colin Larkin was brought down just inside the area five minutes later and Behan rammed home the spot kick but it was not enough to deny the hosts their victory.
