Youths Prepare For Horden Friendly Tonight

Posted on: Wed 21 Jul 2010

Micky Barron's Youth Team continue their pre season preparations tonight when they make the short trip to face Horden CW at Welfare Park (7pm kick-off).

Horden are led by former Pools star Brian Honour and Barron is confident that they will provide good opposition for his young side.

"It's always good for players of this age to come up against non-league teams and see how they handle it against older people," Barron told us.

"It's really beneficial for them physically and I am sure that Horden will give us a really good test this evening.

"The pitch there is good and the players are all looking forward to getting another game under their belts so we're feeling positive about it.

"I know Brian very well and I'm sure he'll have his team prepared for it; he's actually been telling me he has his nephew playing for them tonight who we need to watch out for!

"I'm sure it will be a good competitive game and hopefully we can continue the good work on our fitness ahead of the new season."

We'll have a full report on the game on the Official Website later this evening.

Pools: Mooney, Pearson, Holden, Rowbotham, Mellish, Selby, Rutherford, Richards, Martin, Johnson, Hassan.
