Busy Week Of Action At Victoria Park

Posted on: Fri 14 May 2010

While there may have been no League One football on Victoria Park since 1st May, the last week has still been one of the busiest times of the season for the Club's playing surface!

A number of competitions, events and friendly games have taken place at The Vic since the last home game - all to raise money for the pitch renovations that will be taking place over the next few weeks.

A junior skills event kicked off our week of fun as children from around the region were allowed to show off their talent on the pitch.

The Tesco Skills event was a huge success

Then The Vic played host to the first ever fans game as supporters were given the chance to bid for a place in two teams which went head-to-head under the charge of Chris Turner and Colin West.

It was a great night as the game produced an exciting 1-1 draw with all the players receiving a DVD of the match during the presentations in the CK Carvery.

On Thursday we hosted the first ever Corporate Cup as twelve of the town's businesses went up against each other in a World Cup style tournament.

Two groups of six were drawn, with each company given a World Cup team to represent complete with strips of the appropriate colour.

Niramax's star-studded team romped to victory winning all seven of their games and claiming the honour of inaugural Corporate Cup champions.

And then our annual Junior Tournament took place over the weekend just gone as children from Under 8 up to Under 11 got the chance to play on the pitch.

Work on the playing surface has already got underway and, as ever, we'll have regular progress updates throughout the summer weeks.
