Colin West was pleased to see his side pick up the three points from this afternoon's Reserve Team clash with Huddersfield Town.
In what was a tight game, West was happy to see his team get the win and move to the top of the Totesport.com league as well as seeing James Brown get more competitive action,
"I don't think there was an awful lot in it in the first half," West told hartlepoolunited.co.uk.
"Neither goalkeeper had a save to make but I think they just passed it a little bit better than we did.
"I was a bit more pleased with the second half, with the work rate and we used the ball a little bit better.
"There was a bit of an error from their keeper for the goal but it was a decent strike by James.
"They upped their tempo a bit after that and made our keeper work a little but I thought he dealt with them very well. "
West was pleased to see his team move up in the table but is looking for them to continue their form for a strong finish to the season,
"The next two games are tough for us in terms of mentality because we have struggled against those teams at the bottom of the league this season.
"If we can see the season out with just that one defeat since the New Year then we'll be happy."
James Brown, who scored the only goal of the game this afternoon, was involved with the Reserves as the striker looks to build on his match fitness ahead of the busy Easter weekend for the First Team,
"This week we have only been able to train on the Astroturf because of the bad weather so it was important we got some more minutes into James this afternoon.
"We always knew he would come off in the second half but we just wanted him to get those minutes under his belt.
"It was nice to see him get his goal because that will give him a little extra confidence boost as well."
