West Looking For Reaction From Reserves

Posted on: Wed 17 Mar 2010

Colin West has named a mixture of youth and experience in his squad for tonight's Reserve Team game against Newcastle United at Victoria Park (7pm kick-off).

Ritchie Humphreys is included in the sixteen along with Steve Haslam, Colin Larkin, Leon McSweeney and Jon-Andre Fredriksen.

Young keeper Grant Herbert is set to be handed a first Reserves start due to Mark Cook's groin injury, while Tom Marron, Anthony Wakefield and Chay Liddle are also named in the squad.

Pools were beaten 3-2 at St James' Park earlier in the season in an entertaining game and Colin West is hoping for a similarly open affair tonight.

"It was good game up there; both teams went right at it and there were chances at both ends," he told us.

"I think with the game being at Victoria Park it will give an extra incentive to the players to want to perform.

"As well as that, I'm sure there are some of the lads who want to put behind them the poor performance at Rotherham last week which was our first defeat in a while.

"Hopefully we can attract a decent crowd to the game and they will see us get back on track and back to winning ways."

Season Ticket holders can get in to the game for free, while regular prices are £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.

Pools: Herbert, Purvis, Marron, McSweeney, Fredriksen, Haslam, C Liddle, Richards, Larkin, Rowell, Power, Humphreys, Greulich, D Johnson, Mackay, Wakefield.
