Pools Youth Team are playing catch-up with their Youth Alliance fixtures this afternoon when they make the trip to face Mansfield Town (2pm kick-off).

A series of postponements have left Micky Barron's men frustrated this term, but they've taken maximum points from their last two outings and are looking to build up some momentum for the remainder of the campaign.

It was against Mansfield that the season began for the Youth Team when the sides played out a stunning game at Chester-le-Street which ended 5-4 to Pools.

And while Barron knows it will be another hugely competitive game against the Stags he'll be hoping they can claim the points in a more routine manner.

"We're high on confidence at the moment and looking forward to the game," he told us.

"The lads played well against Notts County at the weekend and created lots of chances so we need to do that again today.

"It was a brilliant game at the start of the season with Mansfield but I'll settle for a 1-0 this time round I think!"

The game kicks-off at 2pm and will take place at the Sutton Ground and Huthwaite Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
