Ankle Ligament Fears Over Pools Striker

Posted on: Fri 12 Mar 2010

Denis Behan looks set for a spell on the sidelines after going over on his ankle during the Reserves' 3-2 defeat at Rotherham United.

The striker was stretchered off after just seventeen minutes at The Don Valley Stadium and looks to have damaged ligaments in his ankle.

"I didn't even see how it happened because I followed the ball as he kicked it but Denis has ended up in a heap on the floor," explained Colin West.

"It was nothing to do with the pitch though, I think he may have just stood on their lad's foot and gone over on his ankle, it's just an accident.

"I spoke to Denis before the game and told him he was there to get minutes under his belt, build up his confidence and get some strikes on goal.

"He's gutted at what's happened because he was right in there fighting for a place in the First Team."

Behan spent six weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury at the end of last year though it's too early to say exactly how long he will be missing this time.
