Chris Turner refused to criticise his players' efforts after seeing them knocked out of the FA Cup by Kettering on an afternoon to forget at Victoria Park.

Moses Ashikodi's first half strike was enough to send the visitors through, though the Poppies' goal led a charmed life for much of the First Round tie.

"I am absolutely gutted that we are out of the cup," he told Pools Player.

"We're talking about one error really that cost us the game today - Kettering had about four forays in to our box all day and we had countless chances.

"We had goal opportunities in the first minute and in the last as well as many other good situations during the game - but obviously it's all about goals and today we couldn't score.

"The players did what we wanted them to do in that we got the ball out wide as much as possible, especially in the first half.

"Kettering gave themselves something to hang on to and packed the penalty area, rode their luck at times - today they got away with it and that's the FA Cup.

"We're all very disappointed."
