We'll Show Kettering Utmost Respect - CT
Chris Turner admits his players are looking forward to tomorrow's FA Cup First Round tie with Kettering Town.
Pools enjoyed a good run in the competition last season and Turner is looking for more of the same this time around,
"I think the FA Cup should give everyone a bounce in their step because it is a fantastic competition
"Last season we had some good fortunes, good games and good revenue and that is something we'll try to get back this season."
And the Director of Sport admits that when the draw was finalised, he knew his team were in for a big test,
"When Kettering came out, we knew straight away that they had well renowned history in the FA Cup and League football.
"Straight away we knew it would be a tough game, a good game because they are a professional football club in a lot of manners, trying to get into the Football League, and possibly they should be with the way they conduct themselves.
"We know that this is a game that our players will have to be at their best in to get through to the next round."
Kettering come into this year's competition on the back of a good run last year beating Lincoln City and Notts County before a tight game with Fulham saw them knocked out.
But Turner insists that Pools fortunes in last year's FA Cup will be giving his side a spur going into Saturday as well,
"We've got our own little bit of history in recent seasons of doing better and doing well against higher opposition so we can match Kettering in those terms.
"They will come to Victoria Park, and some of those boys have probably not been to Hartlepool before, but we know we've got to get at them and play as well as we can.
We have and will show them the utmost respect - we have had them watched three times so we have a fair amount of knowledge about them and we will go into Saturday's game to try and get into the next round."
