Player Pride A Driving Force - Turner
Although Saturday's opponents Brighton are struggling in League One at the moment, Chris Turner is expecting anything but an easy game at the Withdean Stadium.
Pools' Director of Sport may have expected Brighton to be higher up the League, but he will be sending his team out fully prepared for the task in hand,
"I am surprised to be honest because I think Brighton have a good squad of players and I did expect them to be up there with the early season pace setters.
"We go there this weekend with them losing 2-1 to Oldham at home last week and you would think confidence and trepidation would give them problems.
"From our point of view, we will go there and be solid, we will attack where we can and take the game to Brighton and if we can get the first goal, I think it will be a major factor in the game."
And, with Pools having failed to win at the Withdean Stadium in 15 attempts, Turner is expecting a tough game again on Saturday,
"It will be difficult game for us, it always is down there - our record down at Brighton is not great but surely we're due to get something.
"Although last Saturday we didn't play flowingly, the players still had the determination and work ethic not to concede a goal and, over a season, if we can keep that going that could provide something for us.
"We've had nine or ten clean sheets this season whereas last season we couldn't buy one - that gives them sense of pride.
"As a team, we showed last Saturday the appreciation of not conceding a goal and getting the 3 points."
