West Challenges Jones To Prove Himself

Posted on: Wed 14 Oct 2009

Colin West has challenged Ritchie Jones to maintain his good form and earn his place back in the First Team at Victoria Park.

The midfielder topped off a fine performance for the Reserves at Leeds on Tuesday by scoring a wonderful individual goal to earn Pools a point in a 2-2 draw.

And after falling out of the First Team picture in recent weeks, West has praised Jones' attitude and encouraged him to keep knocking on the door.

"At the end of the day, performances get you back in the team or performances knock you out of the team," West told Pools Player.

"Ritchie is bright and he knows what he wants to do - we're just trying to simplify his game a little bit.

"He's told us that this spell out of the side has given him a kick up the backside, which is honest of him to admit that.

"He showed against Leeds what he can do; now we need to get that out of him on a regular basis and then everyone progresses."
