In The Pink With Pools

Posted on: Wed 07 Oct 2009

Hartlepool United have revealed plans to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The game with Tranmere Rovers on Saturday 24th October (3pm kick off) will be Ladies Day at The Vic in association with Hartlepool College of Further Education.

Supporters will see several changes to the normal routine inside the ground as the Club look to raise money and show support for Breast Cancer Awareness.

We're inviting female supporters to enjoy a real matchday with a difference where we'll be offering pamper and beauty sessions in our special Ladies Day Package, before our ladies head out to watch the game from the Sponsors' Area of the ground.

For just £30 per person (with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer Awareness), ladies will be treated to a pre-match buffet complete with Bucks Fizz reception in the Centenary Suite. Guests will then be treated to demonstrations throughout the afternoon from the Beauty Department from Hartlepool College of FE.

There will also be a stall of specially-themed jewellery on sale from local company Everthine.

The ladies will then be asked to nominate their Man of the Match for the game and the chosen player will have his match shirt auctioned off in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness.

As well as the Ladies Day event, the First Team squad will all warm up in exclusive pink Nike training tops which will then be signed by the players and auctioned off here at hartlepoolunited.co.uk  in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Instead of our usual ballboys, the Club have invited Wolviston Under 12s down to help out for the Tranmere Rovers game.

Wolviston are celebrating their centenary season and to mark the occasion they're wearing a pink strip in all away games to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.

For more information on this go to www.wolvistonfc.co.uk.

HUFC office staff will be replacing their usual matchday uniform in favour of a pink alternative and we will also be inviting supporters to wear pink for the day.

There will be bucket collections throughout the ground, while supporters will also be able to purchase their Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons at The Vic.

Hartlepool United Chief Executive Russ Green revealed the thinking behind the Ladies Day at the Club,

"This is a cause which is close to everyone - I think everybody knows someone who has been affected by breast cancer.

"We were keen to show our support for the charity because football is not just a male-orientated sport these days. We have a fantastic cross section of support, with a lot of ladies from the town coming to support us and this is a way for us to put something back and show our backing through this kind of venture.

"We're hoping our Ladies Day proves a big success and we'll be looking to make it an annual event, just like we do with our Poppy Appeal support.

"I'm sure this will be a massively enjoyable day for the ladies coming along and a very different day too - they'll get to watch the match while also being pampered by the College of FE students."
