H'Angus Wows Crowds On Fourth Plinth

Posted on: Mon 05 Oct 2009

H'Angus the Monkey has been spreading the Pools word in the country's capital today by taking part in a modern art project in Trafalgar Square.

Pools' monkey mascot was one of the lucky chosen applicants for an hour-long spot on the famous Fourth Plinth in London and was there between 9am and 10am on Monday morning.

It's part of a vision by artist Antony Gourley, who was also the man responsible for the Angel of the North and H'Angus has become one of 2,400 applicants who were filmed doing whatever took their fancy for an hour on the Plinth!

And H'Angus had put some thought in to what he could do while on the Plinth, entertaining the passing crowds and fans by dancing to various music including Two Little Boys.

He also tried to educate onlookers by holding up signs giving information on Hartlepool United as well as the origins of H'Angus!

Passers-by were even surprised by free Pools hats dished out by the cheeky monkey who finished off by dancing to Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye!

The full hour was filmed and broadcast live on the internet and at Sky Arts but you can now re-live it by visiting the One and Other website - plus we'll have some photos to show you later in the week.
