Pools Youth Team extended their unbeaten run to five games after recording an impressive 4-2 win in their weekend trip to Doncaster Rovers.
Micky Barron has seen his young squad decimated by injury in the opening weeks of the new campaign but the players who have come in have not let the Coach down.
And on Saturday they put in a powerful display to secure a well-deserved win which left Barron understandably delighted.
"It was a tremendous result considering a lot of the players had already played at least one game already during the week," he told us.
"I was extremely proud of the way the team played, especially in the second half in which we played some really exciting football."
Pools started the game slowly and fell behind on five minutes when they failed to clear their lines and Rovers took advantage to score the game's first goal.
However, Barron's men responded quickly and it was that man Anthony Wakefield who was on target again - this time with a beautiful lob over the keeper from twenty-five yards.
Rovers stunned Pools to go back in front when the hosts prodded home on the rebound after a fine initial save from keeper Grant Herbert.
Pools fought back strongly but went in behind at the break after Wakefield was denied in a one-on-on situation, while Barron's men also had a goal disallowed.
After the break it was a completely different story though, as Pools took the game by the scruff of the neck and began pouring forward to terrorise the Doncaster defence.
Jack Sharples saw a shot saved, while Lee Mason and Daniel Johnson both had good chances to equalise but were denied by the Rovers keeper.
The leveller did arrive midway through the second half when a terrific pass by Dylan Purvis put Wakefield through on goal and he calmly lobbed the ball over the keeper from the edge of the box.
And then Mason put Pools in front when he controlled substitute Chris Dodds' ball in the box and swivelled to fire past the keeper and in to the net.
Mason's second goal added gloss to the victory with nine minutes left - he collected a Josh Rowbotham pass before driving into the box and drilling the ball across the keeper.
"It was a wonderful performance from the lads and if we can keep re-creating that type of quality every week then we'll trouble a lot of teams this season," Barron added.
