H'Angus the Monkey will be strutting his stuff in the country's capital after being accepted for a prestigious spot on the famous Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square.
Earlier this year, the Pools mascot applied to take part in a project known as One & Other and is the vision of artist Antony Gourmley, the man behind the Angel of the North.
Entrants are invited to spend an hour on the Fourth Plinth, which is the name given to the empty plinth in the north-west corner of Trafalgar Square in London.
It was originally designed by Sir Charles Barry and built in 1841 to display an equestrian statue but unfortunately funds ran dry and the plinth has since remained empty.
In total 2,400 people will stand on the plinth making sure it is occupied for every hour of the day for 100 ground-breaking days during which applicants can do whatever they want.
"Spend your time exactly the way that you see fit," Gourley recommends in the literature H'Angus received with notification that his application had been successful.
"You are not going to be judged; there is no right way of being on the plinth and anything you think of is absolutely fine so long as it is legal!
"I am hoping that we might learn something about who we are and how we are through the accumulation of 2,400 person-hours making up this monument in time," he added.
H'Angus has been allotted an early morning slot on Monday 5th October and will be spreading the Pools word on the Fourth Plinth between 9am and 10am.
The cheeky monkey has already got a number of tricks up his sleeve to perform during his time in the spotlight and you can follow his progress online on the One & Other website and on Sky's website, courtesty of event partner Sky Arts.
