Pools Youth Team stretched their unbeaten run to three games on Saturday when they drew 1-1 with Lincoln City at Chester-le-Street.
Despite a long injury list, Micky Barron's young side started the game brightly and created a number of early chances to go ahead - Chay Liddle and Daniel Johnson both denied by good saves from the visiting keeper.
The reward for their dominance arrived just after the half hour mark when the influential Liddle burst through midfield before playing in the in-form Anthony Wakefield who slotted home his fourth goal of the season.
Pools could have stretched their advantage on the stroke of half time with Liddle once again the architect but this time Lee Mason fired a shot just wide.
Lincoln came out in more determined fashion after the interval and began to put Barron's youngsters under pressure but they defended well and looked fairly comfortable.
Wakefield almost found the net on the counter-attack but when he turned the defender and stormed in to the box his shot was off-target.
However, it was City who found the net next to level things up when Pools failed to clear their lines and the ball was fired home to make it 1-1.
"It was a pleasing performance and we should really have won the game," Barron commented.
"I think if we had taken more of the chances we created in the first half then we would have got the points but we didn't keep the ball as well in the second half.
"Overall, I'm happy because injuries meant there were a few players out of position at the start of the game so to stay unbeaten and get a point is good for us."
