Keep The Positivity Going Urges Jones

Posted on: Thu 10 Sep 2009

The Pools players are completely focused on their task for Saturday's game with Wycombe Wanderers, hoping to clinch their first victory of the season on home soil.

Chris Turner's men have picked up seven points from nine on their travels so far this season and have yet to concede in 390 minutes of football.

But the story at The Vic is a much different one with Pools yet to pick up a point in front of their home fans.

That statistic though could look very different by 5pm on Saturday afternoon according to Ritchie Jones as the players look to bring their away form home,

"We just need to take what we are doing away from home into our home games and then we'll be alright.

"We have just been unlucky at home so far and hopefully we'll pick up the three points on Saturday.

"Since I have been here, we have not been great away from home and I don't know what it is this year but now we haven't lost away from home.

"And we are just looking to bring that back home to try and get the three points."

Looking back on Pools' last performance and Jones admits the result at Oldham has left the squad in positive mood,

"We battered them didn't we?!" he smiled.

"We got a few good goals as well and now all the lads are high on confidence going into the Wycombe game and we know we need the three points.

"I'm really enjoying it, I think everyone is especially with us winning.

"It is so much better coming in to training when you're doing well, everyone is happy and that spurs you on to win again because you want to stay like that."

And Jones reveals the players are keen to get a win in front of their home fans to show those supporters just what they have been missing out on in away games,

"They have probably been wondering what's happening when we play at home but we just need them to get behind us on Saturday and if we put in a good performance, the result will usually follow."
