Jones Out Of Action After Breaking Hand

Posted on: Mon 24 Aug 2009

There was good news and bad news for Chris Turner on the injury front today with two players able to return to training but another ruled out for up to three weeks.

It's been confirmed that Ritchie Jones broke his hand during the game with Gillingham on Saturday and the midfielder is definitely out of Pools' clashes with Burnley and Norwich City.

It's harsh on the 22-year-old who performed strongly as a second half substitute during the win at the Priestfield Stadium.

"He is going to see a specialist to see how serious the injury is but it's likely he'll be out for around three weeks," Turner explained.

"We need to see whether he can have a cast put on to enable him to play or not.

"Gary Liddle had a similar injury a few seasons ago and although he couldn't play for the first few weeks, he could then play with a cast on so we'll look at that option."

Meanwhile, Ben Clark and Colin Larkin have both returned to full training after their injury lay-offs to hand Turner a welcome boost.

Clark has made a quicker than expected recovery from a hernia operation while Larkin has now shrugged off the thigh strain sustained during the warm-up for the Charlton game.

"Ben has trained for the first time today," CT confirmed.

"He has been out nearly two months so he'll have a week's intensive training before he can be considered for the team on Saturday against Norwich City.

"Colin has been out for less time than Ben so he should be fit enough to take his place on the substitutes' bench against Burnley."
