Dream Come True For New Boy Greulich

Posted on: Tue 18 Aug 2009

New signing Billy Greulich was delighted to put pen to paper on his first professional contract with Pools this morning.

The former Brandon Town man arrives at The Vic having had experience at several other League clubs but Pools have offered him the chance to turn professional,

"The season before last I played for Luton Town Youth Team and I was there for a year, I played some games for the Reserves too when I was 16.

"Before that I spent time at both Sunderland and Middlesbrough Academies and I was at Watford when I was younger."

Greulich was on trial for Pools for much of pre season and did enough in his four appearances to impress Chris Turner and Colin West,

"I could tell I had made an impact because I scored two goals and I knew I had a good chance of being signed.

"It was difficult coming in because I didn't know anyone here and when I was at both Sunderland and Middlesbrough, I had a lot of friends.

"When I came here, everyone was older than me and I didn't know anyone but I was determined to succeed."

And succeed he did, earning himself the chance to push on at a Club where he is now settled,

"I am delighted to sign a contract here - it's a dream come true really.

"This is a fantastic Club with a fantastic set-up, everyone is so friendly and everyone gets on with each other.

"It's been brilliant so far - I've enjoyed every minute of being here."

The striker has set his aims clearly now for the season ahead - to continue to succeed with Pools,

"Hopefully I can prove to the fans what I can do - basically I am here to try as much as I can to get into the First Team and to try and move the Club forward in the process.

"I want to improve myself as a player while also helping Hartlepool United."
