Chris Turner has this afternoon completed his eighth signing of the summer with the capture of Steve Haslam.

The Sheffield-born defender is well known to Turner through their days at Hillsborough and has joined the Club after spending two years at Bury.

Haslam played impressively on trial for Pools during the game at Mansfield Town and now a deal has been struck to bring him on board in time for the fresh League One campaign.

The 29-year-old began his career with Sheffield Wednesday and went on to play almost 150 times before departing for Halifax in 2004 and then Bury in 2007.

Although predominantly signed as a right-back, Haslam is comfortable anywhere across the back four and can also operate in midfield if called upon.

The former England Schoolboy has been handed squad number 16 and will go straight in to the squad for this weekend's opening day trip to MK Dons.
