West Happy As Pools Hit Four At Garforth
Pools ran out comfortable winners in their latest pre season encounter when they fired four unanswered goals past Garforth Town.
An experimental line-up led by Colin West was comprised of several trialists but it didn't take them long to get going against the Yorkshire outfit.
They raced in to a three goal lead by half time thanks to strikes from Joe Lamplough, Adam Boyd and Matty Tymon, while Billy Greulich added a fourth after the break.
"I thought the performance was very good particularly in the first half," West commented.
"It was tougher in the second half because they pushed more men forward and went very direct but we handled that well.
"All of the goals were extremely well taken and we had a look at plenty of players so we're pleased with the workout," he added.
Lamplough got things underway with a stunning twenty-five yard free-kick after twenty minutes, sending a direct shot across the keeper and in to the net.
And on the half hour Pools doubled their advantage after a great run by David Foley who then played in Boyd to take a touch and slot the ball home.
Tymon got in on the act with nine minutes remaining until the break when Jonny Rowell managed to dig out a cross and the young striker arrived at the far post to convert.
After withstanding some pressure in the second period, Pools tied things up with the final goal on 85 minutes when Billy Greulich showed strength to hold off his defender on the edge of the box and curl a lovely strike in to the far corner of the net.
