Jon-Andre Fredriksen's performance against York City on Friday night was one of the main positives for Chris Turner to take from the game.
The Norwegian midfielder put in a gritty display in the centre of midfield and gave Turner food for thought ahead of Wednesday's game at Gateshead.
And while Fredriksen is enjoying life on the pitch, as he reveals to hartlepoolunited.co.uk, he is setting in well off it too,
"Everything is going fine - training is good and I am just looking forward to playing more games.
"There is a lot more communication in training here and the coaches are always aware of what you're doing so you have to make sure you're always involved."
Looking back on the York game and Fredriksen admits that, while he was disappointed with the result, Pools need to take the positives into the game on Wednesday night,
"In the first half we played well but after the first goal against us, I think we needed to push forward more and go for goal.
"We need to take the positives from that first half and use them in upcoming games."
Despite arriving as more of a left-sided midfielder, the 27-year-old has impressed during his last two outings in the centre of the pitch,
"I think it is nice to play central, you are involved a lot more in the game and I enjoyed playing there on Friday at York."
And Fredriksen reveals his aim now is to knuckle down in training and put himself into contention for the first game of the League One season at MK Dons on Saturday 8th August,
"You train every day to try and make sure you are one of the players named in the eleven - hopefully I will be get a couple of goals in pre season to help my case.
"Everybody is hoping to be in the first eleven for the first game of the season but there are 46 league matches to play in so the squad is very important for us.
"Not everybody can play in every game so you just have to keep training and try to do well to impress the manager.
"We have a few pre season games left now and we need to get some results - if we can win one or two of them, we can take this with us into the season."
And once the season is underway, Fredriksen will soon get to see more of the country - with Pools set to travel well over 10,000 miles during the course of the campaign,
"I've heard that we have a lot of travelling to do this season and will be spending a lot of time on the bus but that is ok - we have our computers to keep us entertained.
"I am looking forward to seeing lots of new stadiums - it is going to be very different to Norway.
"There are some big stadiums for us to visit this season like Charlton, Leeds, Norwich and Southampton which will be exciting and hopefully we will have a good season."
