Chris Turner is hoping to see his European travels pay off in the next few days with at least one new player arriving to bolster his squad.
The Director of Sport has been busy putting the miles under his belt in recent times and had earlier this week been in Norway for the Monday night game between Fredrikstad and Brann Bergen.
As well as that, he has also been to watch games in Scotland and the Republic of Ireland as Pools look to cast the net further in their bid to improve the playing squad.
And the hard work looks to have paid off with Turner closing in on Jon Andre-Fredriksen, a left-sided player currently plying his trade with Norwegian outfit Sarpsborg.
While negotiations are still not complete and international clearance is still being sought, the boss is hoping to have the deal concluded in the early part of next week.
"Jon-Andre is a very energetic player and could provide us with some good competition down the left side so we're interested," he confirmed.
"We need somebody on that side to challenge Andy Monkhouse following Matty Robson's decision to leave so it's an area I've been looking at for a while.
"I've been out to Norway a number of times in the last few months to watch games in the two top divisions over there just to get a feel for the players and the level.
"I've also been to the Republic of Ireland and Scotland so it's been a busy three or four months but I think it's important we see if there are opportunities in these countries.
"Despite the recession, I still feel the transfer market in England is inflated and that is highlighted by the number of players who are without clubs and are living in the past in terms of what they are looking for.
"We are broadening our horizons in the search for new players and I think it's good that we're looking down different channels for opportunities.
"But we can only do that with the superb support we've been given by our owners IOR and the Chairman Ken Hodcroft who have backed us extremely well during the summer so far," he added.
As soon as any transfer is complete we will have all the news confirmed here on the Official Website - when it's a done deal, it's a done deal.
