Chris Turner has swooped to complete the signing of defender Neil Austin from local rivals Darlington.

The Director of Sport has made recruiting new full-backs a high priority this summer and the arrival of the highly-rated 26-year-old is reward for that hard work.

Having coming through the ranks with hometown club Barnsley, Austin went on to make over 150 appearances for the Tykes following his debut in 2002.

He played a key role in the Tykes' return to the Championship in 2006 before making a move to Darlington in the summer of 2007.

While most comfortable on the right, Austin can also operate in the left-back role and his performances for the Quakers last term saw him voted in to the League Two Team of the Year by his fellow professionals.

Austin becomes Turner's fourth signing of a busy close season following the arrivals of Adam Boyd, Leon McSweeney and Peter Hartley.
