Monkhouse: Decision To Stay A "No-Brainer"

Posted on: Fri 22 May 2009

Andy Monkhouse today put an end to speculation linking him with a move away from Victoria Park by signing a new deal to stay at the Club.

And as the ink dried on his fresh contract, the winger revealed that leaving Pools was never something that crossed his mind once he'd spoken with Chris Turner.

"It was never really on my mind to move away," he explained when speaking to Pools World.

"The fans seem to like me here and they've been great with me ever since I came on loan which makes me happy and hopefully we can carry that on now.

"I came in a couple of weeks ago and had a good chat with Chris Turner and with the things he's said I felt happy to stay where I am.

"From what Chris says it sounds like we'll be getting a few new players in so along with the lads who are already here I'm sure we can push on to better things next season.

"I don't think I was every going to go anywhere else; I'm happy here, Chris is happy having me here and the fans are so the decision seems like a no-brainer."
