H'Angus Joy In Mascot Gold Cup

Posted on: Mon 27 Apr 2009

H'Angus the Monkey once again left other mascots in his wake at the weekend when he tasted success in the fourth Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby.

The popular event, dubbed the largest mascot race in the world, took place at Wetherby Racecourse on Sunday and as usual H'Angus was keen to show his competitive side up against 50 other mascots from all over the country.

After a quick walk around the Parade Ring it was soon down to business and H'Angus again did the Club proud by being the first professional mascot past the finish line.

Due to the handicap system which was in place, H'Angus had started the race a massive fourteen seconds behind the eventual winner and was just outside the overall top three.

However, his status as the first pro mascot past the post meant he scooped a certificate and £50 for a charity of his choice which he is to donate to the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
